Guidelines:

After research needs have been fulfilled, and in the event commercial producers do not have supply available for sale, we may offer our excess stock for sale to the industry. The following criteria must also be met:

1. Buyer must be a U.S. company.
2. Buyer must have a current Import Permit issued by the Department of Agriculture, Plant Quarantine for companies in Hawaii, or by the appropriate agency or department for companies in all other states.
3. All money collected from any sale must be credited back to a research grant.
4. Buyer must be in good financial standing with the Oceanic Institute.
5. Buyer must sign a Material Transfer Agreement prior to the distribution of any stocks.

TERMS OF OI SALES

OI shrimp are offered on a best-effort basis and actual performance may differ from that indicated in laboratory evaluations. It must be recognized that certain risks are involved. To offset the cost of production and to emphasize the potential value of broodstock reared from these animals, shrimp will be sold at $0.80 each with a minimum order of 5,000; $0.70 each for orders of 50,000 – 100,000; and $0.60 each for orders greater than 100,000. In addition, there are shipping costs and an $18.00 per box handling fee. These stocks are specific pathogen free ( SPF ) and will be accompanied by a State of Hawaii health certificate. A 50% deposit is required prior to production, and the remainder of the balance is due immediately prior to shipment. Shrimp are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, based on receipt of deposit confirming the order.
