Positions and Experience:
  • Program Manager, Shrimp Program, The Oceanic Institute. Responsible for managing the USDA-funded shrimp program which currently is involved in the establishment of a selective breeding program for specific pathogen free white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, and the development of biosecure production systems. 1997 to present.
  • Associate/Assistant Professor, Marine Science Program, Hawai‘i Pacific University. Instruction of undergraduate students in Introductory Biology, Marine Biology, Oceanography, and Senior Research. 1992 to 1997
  • Research Assistant, Oceanic Institute. CTSA funded research to improve effluent quality from aquaculture ponds through control of inputs and operational methodologies. 1989 - 1990
  • Research Assistant, Oceanic Institute. Responsible for the implementation of an international collaborative research project on microbial communities that affect yield and stability in aquaculture ponds. 1986 - 1989
  • Technical Committee Member, CTSA, 1997 to present
  • Technical Committee Member, U.S. Marine Shrimp Farming Program (USMSFP), 1997 to present
  • Fulbright Scholar, Republic of Indonesia. Conducted postdoctoral research in marine biology on the Island of Ambon, Indonesia. Research included establishing biological inventories of molluscs inhabiting mudflats and fish inhabiting seagrass beds. Also involved in documentation of the exploitation of living marine resources in the Arafury Sea. 1993 to 1994.
