About the operation - 2004 - The Ebelhars are raising about 30,000 Pacific White shrimp in two tanks. John Ebelhar said the family plans to raise the shrimp to a size of 27 grams -- a "jumbo" size -- before selling them.

Products - Pacific white shrimp are considered tops in flavor. The Ebelhar farm is the only marine shrimp farm in Kentucky. Marine shrimp are considered the top choice of chefs all over the world and this is a chance for restaurants in the area to buy a special product unique to Kentucky.

Hours/Seasonal Operation: The couple plan to hold their first harvest in late summer or early fall. While other farmers in the region have raised freshwater prawns in outdoor ponds, the Ebelhars appear to be the only family with an indoor shrimp farming operation.
